Think about this for a moment: all mankind is sinful by nature. None of us, apart from God’s intervention, merits or deserves the grace God has extended to us through His Son, Jesus Christ.
Paul confirms mankind’s sinful condition in Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” “All” means every human being has been touched by sin. Why? How? When? Paul explains this in Romans 5:12-14: “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned…”
Adam, the first man God created, became the doorway through which sin entered the world. Because of his disobedience, sin and death began to reign over mankind. Paul looks back to Adam as the one through whom sin entered, but he also points forward to Christ, “the figure of him that was to come.”
That “one to come” is Jesus Christ. Paul explains in Romans 5:17: “For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace… shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.”
Death came through one man’s offense, but life comes through one Savior. Sin bound us, but grace frees us. Death reigned through Adam, but life reigns through Jesus Christ.
Do you want to break the chains of sin and death?
Do you want to be released from the weight that has you bound?
Do you want to be freed from the slavery of sin?
Then you need the gift God offers through His Son, Jesus Christ. We all need salvation from our sins!
Nothing you can do by your own efforts can save you, because we have all been stained by sin. Salvation is not merely about becoming a better person; it is about being redeemed by the grace of God through Jesus Christ. We all need salvation from our sins!
