We Must Go

Mark's Gospel in Mark 16:15-16 states,

"[15] And he said to them, "Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. [16] Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned". However, we must not look only at Mark’s Gospel to understand the imperative; we must also take into consideration Matthew 28:19. It states, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.”

The English Standard Version renders Matthew 28:19 as: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”

Our mission is to put the Gospel message into action. Jesus is conveying to His disciples that they must move into action they are to go. And, by extension, He is speaking to us today: we are to be men and women of action for God. We must go and share our testimony how we were saved and the impact of the Gospel message in our lives.

We are to take the Gospel message to family, friends, co-workers, associates, and even our enemies. In Acts 1:8, Jesus declares that the Gospel would begin in Jerusalem but would not remain there. It would spread beyond the city. The text states, “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”

The Gospel message was carried around the world through the efforts of the disciples. Now, this mission is our responsibility as Christians.

What are you doing today to spread the Word of God? That is our business this is our mission, our objective, and our purpose as Christians. We should all have a role in sharing the Word of God.

Remember, in the U.S. Army, regardless of your MOS, a soldier is always an infantryman. Likewise, in the body of Christ, regardless of who you are, your “MOS” is to evangelize to tell somebody about Jesus.

The world is waiting, souls are at stake, and time is not on our side. We cannot afford to be silent, passive, or comfortable. The command has already been given, go. The power has already been promised, the Holy Spirit. The mission has already been defined, make disciples.

So the only question that remains is this: Will you go?

Go and tell somebody about Jesus today, before it is too late.
