Only God’s Plan Can Be Trusted

Isaiah 46:8-10 states,

“[8] Remember this, and show yourselves men; bring it again to mind, O ye transgressors. [9] Remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is none other; I am God, and there is none like Me, [10] declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure.’”

God’s sovereignty over mankind is clearly seen through the lens of the prophet Isaiah’s writing in Isaiah 46. Isaiah declared:

“Remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like Me, declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done.”

What Isaiah states concerning God is unique to God’s character alone. No man possesses the power, wisdom, or authority to declare the end before the beginning. Only God has absolute knowledge of all things past, present, and future.

Because of God’s sovereignty, He alone can be fully trusted, because only His plans possess absolute certainty. Man’s plans are limited and uncertain. Our plans are subject to God’s permissive will. Our plans are affected by changing world conditions, human weakness, unforeseen circumstances, and the opinions of others.

Therefore, we must not become consumed with pursuing our own plans while ignoring God’s purpose. Instead, we must align our lives with the will of God and follow His Word for our lives. Proverbs 3:5–6 reminds us:

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

When we trust God’s sovereignty, we can walk confidently knowing that His counsel shall stand and His purpose cannot fail.
