Based on Romans 8:5-6, Galatians 5:19-25 and John 3:5-8
If you desire to be more than a conqueror, your mindset must be changed to align with the mind of God. The mindset and lifestyle of those who are more than conquerors are distinctly different from the world.
According to the Apostle Paul, there are two types of people who possess two distinctly different mindsets, each producing a different outlook on life:
After the flesh leads to death
After the Spirit leads to life
Paul teaches this truth in Romans 8:5–6:
“For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.”
These two mindsets produce different works or priorities, behaviors, and values. Those who live according to the flesh think, move, and act differently from those who walk according to the Spirit.
Paul further clarifies this contrast in Galatians 5:19–25, where he identifies the works of the flesh and the fruit of the Spirit. Your mindset determines your works
A Carnal (Worldly) Mind Is Driven By:
Idolatry
Witchcraft
Hatred
Variance
Emulations
Wrath
Strife
Seditions
Heresies
Envy
Murders
Drunkenness
Revelings
These pursuits reflect a life governed by selfish desires and uncontrolled passions.
A Spiritual (Godly) Mind Is Driven By:
Love
Joy
Peace
Longsuffering
Gentleness
Goodness
Faith
Meekness
Temperance
These qualities reflect the character of Christ working within the believer. Those who are in Christ are no longer spiritually dead. They have been quickened and made alive by God’s Spirit. They are no longer strangers to God but are now His children, born again into a new life.
Jesus explained this truth to Nicodemus in John 3:5–8: “Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God… That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.”
Spiritual rebirth produces spiritual transformation. When we are born of the Spirit, our desires change, our priorities change, our conduct changes, and our purpose changes. We begin to walk differently because we now belong to God. This is why believers are able to live as more than conquerors, not because of personal strength, but because Christ lives in us and governs our minds.
If you desire to be more than a conqueror, your mindset must align with the mind of God. This transformation begins with obedience to the gospel, which results in hearing the gospel believing the gospel, repenting of your sin, and being baptized for the remission of sins.
Therefore through obedience, the sinner becomes saved, receives new life in Christ, and is added to the family of God. A changed life begins with a changed mind and a changed mind produces a victorious walk.
