God Cannot Lie: So We Must Go and Preach

God’s Word is true because it is impossible for God to lie. Hebrews 6:18 states,

“That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us.”

Since we have this confidence in God’s honesty, we can truly trust the Word of God. Whatever God has said in His Word, the Bible, we must believe. However, humanity has a choice to either believe or reject God’s Word.

Jesus, the Son of God, upon His ascension, gave instruction to His followers. He states in Mark 16:15–16:

“[15] And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. [16] He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be condemned.”

They are to:

  • Go

  • Preach the gospel

Those who hear what they say will either:

  • Believe and be saved

  • Not believe and be condemned

Regardless of what those who hear the Word of God choose to do, Jesus’ followers are to continue speaking the Word of God to the entire world.

This Great Commission given to Jesus’ disciples extends to all who have believed the gospel. Therefore, it is a never-ending commission given to all who have obeyed the gospel and are Christians. We are to go and preach the gospel. No matter how few we are in number, we must go and preach the gospel!

When Jesus sent out seventy of His followers, He said in Luke 10:2:

“Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.”

Notice what Jesus emphasizes in this text:

  • He recognizes the magnitude of the work to be done, as He states, “the harvest is great.”

  • He acknowledges the shortage of workers to meet the need.

  • He instructs His followers to pray to the Father to send laborers into the harvest.

God has given us this commission, but when we realize that our resources do not match the need, we must turn to Him in prayer and ask Him to provide.

Let us fall on our knees in prayer and petition God to supply what is needed so that we may faithfully carry out His commission to go and preach the gospel to every creature!
